After a chance encounter, four musicians decide to form a quartet and spend the winter sharing a cozy villa in Karuizawa — but a secret hangs over them.
After a fateful meeting at a Tokyo karaoke venue, four musicians head to quiet Karuizawa to start a new chapter performing as a string quartet.
A skeptical Suzume wonders why Beppu and Iemori were at karaoke on the same night as Maki. Beppu’s coworker asks him to perform at her wedding.
A teenage boy suddenly shows up outside Nocturne and tells Suzume that her gravely ill father has little time remaining and wants to see her.
Two rugged men come to the villa and ask Iemori about a woman in a photo, but he denies knowing her location. After they leave, he shares a secret.
When a music producer invites the quartet to perform at an upcoming classical music festival, Maki panics and flatly refuses the man’s offer.
Suzume unwittingly brings a thief back to the villa. Meanwhile, Maki’s mother-in-law Kyoko interrogates her, demanding to know if she killed Mikio.
Maki makes a spontaneous, romantic gesture after finally reuniting with Mikio at the villa. Suzume rushes to free herself and alert Kyoko.
Life at the villa is peaceful after Maki’s divorce. Setting aside her own feelings, Suzume enlists Iemori’s help in bringing Maki and Beppu together.
Seeing his housemates’ regret over losing the villa, Beppu asks for time to find a solution. Uninvited guests visit Karuizawa to speak with Maki.
One year after Maki’s departure, Beppu becomes despondent upon seeing her in a magazine article and tells the others to give up on seeing her again.
