The family consists of Géza, the father, a comical and inept figure, his wife Paula who actually dominates family affairs, pubertal daughter Kriszta and 12-year-old son Aladár, a child prodigy. The cat Maffia and a dog, Blöki accompany the family. Dr. Máris, their cynical neighbour, is regularly and unvoluntarily involved in disasters surrounding the family.

Géza Mézga, Paula, their teenage daughter Kriszta and that restless youngest child, Aladár. So they are the Mézga family, of course, we might even include neighbor Máris. They always get involved in strange adventures, partly thanks to their "distant" relative MZ/X discovered by Aladár, and partly on their own. With the help of Aladár's homemade transceiver, converted from a radio, they contact their 30th-century relative on the Köbunoka peninsula. Unbelievable things suddenly happen in the otherwise ordinary family. It's no wonder that the mother of the family mentions Hufnágel Pisti's name quite often.
